The Barn Garden Centre

The Barn (formerly Barnplants) is a beautiful boutique garden centre in Stanway, Essex. They’ve recently undergone a rename, rebrand and a change in their positioning. They’ve built up a large base of loyal customers and are known locally for their hanging baskets (!). They wanted to broaden their horizons and reach out to a new audience without alienating their current customers.

The Barn is much more than a garden centre, they also have departments for homewares, toys, gifts, clothing, jewellery as well as a cafe. It really is a fantastic way to spend a few hours at the weekend. Our brief was to let people know about this and increase footfall through their doors.

WordPress website design and build

The key marketing tool for The Barn moving forwards will be their website. All ongoing marketing efforts will be centred around their new website with clear goals and conversion tracking in place.

We built their new website on the WordPress platform which gives them the flexibility to update the content and imagery throughout themselves. This is particularly useful to them as we are updating the key messages and imagery based on the seasons and products they’re selling.

Imagery was a big part of the new website, we wanted people to see the products they sell to really get a feel for the place, we’ve managed to achieve this and the resulting website is clean, simple and full of beautiful imagery.

Photography

We spent an afternoon at The Barn, camera in hand and took hundreds of photos of their products and location. This has given them a library of photos to use throughout their website and all marketing efforts moving forwards.

Facebook Advertising

The Barn didn’t have any sort of social media presence, so we set up a Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram accounts. The Barn were looking to attract visitors from people in their local area, so we decided to implement a Facebook advertising strategy.

We set up various adverts targeting a specific demographic in their local area, which has generated a huge amount of interest. In fact, since we started we have increased page likes by 981%, achieved a 6,013 post engagement and a total reach of 78,967 people within their local area.

We have set up a number of competitions which has increased the reach and interest in The Barn in their local area, which in turn has increased footfall and sales.
