Munchy Seeds are a brand that we've known for a number of years and have been lucky enough to work with on a number of occasions. Crispin and Lucinda have invested their lives into creating a fantastic selection of healthy snacks that they sell to huge number of customers through their website and also in supermarkets across the UK. Their current Magento website had served them well over the past few years, but as their business continued to grow and their branding evolved it became clear that they were ready to take the next step with their online shop.
For those of you that are familiar with Munchy Seeds' products, you will have seen Timmy Toucan, Gerty Goose, Rory the Racy Rooster, Zippy Zebra, Harriet Horse and Colin Crocodile. A great deal of time, effort and expense has been committed towards developing a colourful and fun brand identity that adorns packaging on supermarket shelves across the country. But, sadly, the original website didn't incorporate the fun and colourful nature and didn't support the business' push to construct a nationally recognised brand.
We'd been hoping and waiting for some time for the opportunity to work with the exciting brand that Munchy Seeds had adopted and as soon as we were offered the opportunity, we jumped on board! The first step was to tear up the existing website design and whip up a storm of colours and characters that was visually appealing and tied in with the brand guidelines. Each page of the new site incorporates one of the hand puppet animals and the vibrant colour that accompanies them on the product packaging.
The second phase of the redesign was where our experience of ecommerce user design came to the fore. Whilst the original Munchy Seeds site had a large and loyal customer base, there were a number of best practices that were being broken. We worked closely with Crispin and Lucinda to re-jig the product pages within the site in order to create a smoother and more productive user experience which we are confident will help to increase the site's conversion rate.
The third and final phase of the redesign was a full and thorough review of SEO (search engine optimisation) on the site, adding keywords that will help potential customers to find the products. As always, the SEO will be an ongoing task with XML sitemaps and Google Product Search feeds working behind the scenes to increase exposure of the site and its products as is provided as standard on all CaffeineCommerce sites.
Anybody that has ever worked on a successful ecommerce website using Magento will know that administration can be a cumbersome task. In its quest to cater for everybody, the platform has become a huge maze of forms, tables and popups. CaffeineCommerce, provides the next step for growing your online business and provides a custom administration interface for your business whilst maintaining the power and control over your content and products.
The CaffeineCommerce administration interface provides Crispin with the ability to manage products, content managed pages, sales orders, customer accounts and provides tools to integrate the online store with their offline Sage accounting solution. All of these tasks are fast and simple to achieve and optimisation for search engines and user experience is encouraged throughout every task.
